The Pens of the Green Pen Society
This shows the pens that were used and deployed as part of the initiation ceremony held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, U.S.A., on Friday, April 5, 2013.
Reflections
It's true. One can purchase a green pen. One can also purchase a variety of pencils, crayons, and even chalk of the greenish hue. Merely possessing a green writing instrument does not constitute membership in the Green Pen Society.
Membership is something that is earned. Just as that is true, so also is the Green Pen something that is given to you, not purchased by you. You can only receive the pen from someone who has one ... and only then after you have proven yourself worthy and reliable. Service as an "auditor" is a qualifying condition - but it is not by any means the only basis upon which this status can be acquired. There is an ancient lineage and much magick, mystery and genuine magnificence associated with the full powers of Green Pen living. When one holds the Green Pen in their hand .... the entire time-space continuum opens up just a bit and a vacuum of sorts in the ether allows genuine insight and inspired action to fill that void. This is that way - or so it appears. And, this is just the early stage of the process of not-knowing that is central to this purpose. We are wise, or so it seems, to temporarily suspend our judgment and to allow the very forces of the cosmos to shape and redefine reality itself. This is part of what the Green Pen can do. The other parts are also quite obvious. Documenting. Delineating. Describing. Defining. Lots of "d" things. And so, we celebrate the power of the word and the ability of the word itself to instil meaning. |
